Cookie Policy

Last updated: March 21, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how Preside ("we," "us," or "our"), operated by Global Board Institute, uses cookies and similar tracking technologies when you visit our website and use our AI-powered board management platform. This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, provide a better user experience, and supply information to website owners. Cookies can be "first-party" (set by us directly) or "third-party" (set by services we integrate with). They may persist on your device for varying durations, from the length of your browsing session to several months.

How We Use Cookies

Preside uses cookies to authenticate users and maintain secure sessions, remember your preferences and settings across visits, understand how our platform is used so we can improve it, ensure the platform performs reliably and loads efficiently, and support integrations with third-party services you choose to connect. We are committed to using cookies responsibly and transparently. We do not use cookies to serve advertising or sell your data to third parties.

Types of Cookies We Use

The cookies used on our platform fall into four categories. Each serves a specific purpose in delivering and improving the Preside experience.

Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for the platform to function. Without them, you cannot sign in, navigate securely, or use core features. They cannot be disabled.

  • Session management and authentication tokens
  • CSRF (cross-site request forgery) protection
  • Load balancing and request routing
  • Security context and access control

Functional Cookies

These cookies remember choices you make to provide a more personalized experience. Disabling them means some preferences will not persist between sessions.

  • Language and locale preferences
  • UI settings (theme, sidebar state, layout)
  • Remember me / stay signed in
  • Recently viewed items and navigation state

Analytics Cookies

These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the platform. All data collected is anonymized and aggregated, and is never used to personally identify you.

  • Usage patterns and navigation flows
  • Page views and session duration
  • Feature adoption and engagement metrics
  • Aggregate demographic information

Performance Cookies

These cookies help us monitor and improve the technical performance of Preside. They allow us to detect issues before they affect your experience.

  • Page load times and response metrics
  • Error tracking and diagnostic data
  • Service optimization signals
  • Infrastructure health monitoring

Third-Party Cookies

In addition to our own cookies, Preside may set cookies from trusted third-party services in two contexts:

  • Analytics providers: We use privacy-focused analytics tools to understand aggregate platform usage. These providers may set their own cookies to distinguish unique visitors and track session data. All analytics data is anonymized and does not include personally identifiable information.
  • Integration partners: When you connect Preside to third-party services such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, or Zoom, those services may set cookies to maintain the integration connection. These cookies are governed by the respective third-party privacy policies. Integration connections are always initiated by you and can be revoked at any time from your dashboard settings.

Cookie Duration

Cookies set by Preside fall into two categories based on their lifespan:

  • Session cookies: These are temporary cookies that are deleted when you close your browser. They are used for authentication, CSRF protection, load balancing, and performance monitoring. They do not persist on your device.
  • Persistent cookies: These remain on your device for a set period or until you manually delete them. Typical durations range from 30 minutes (analytics session grouping) to 1 year (UI preferences like theme and language). The "remember me" cookie persists for 30 days, and analytics identifiers persist for up to 90 days.

Managing Your Cookie Preferences

You have several options for controlling how cookies are used on Preside:

  • Cookie consent banner: When you first visit Preside, a cookie consent banner will appear allowing you to accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can change your preferences at any time by clicking the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer of any page.
  • Browser settings: Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can configure your browser to block all cookies, accept only first-party cookies, or delete cookies when you close the browser. Refer to your browser's help documentation for specific instructions.
  • Opt-out links: For analytics cookies, you can opt out directly through our cookie consent management tool. This will place an opt-out cookie on your device that prevents analytics data from being collected in future sessions.

Impact of Disabling Cookies

If you choose to disable or block certain cookies, some features of Preside may not function as intended. Specifically:

  • Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in and using the platform entirely.
  • Disabling functional cookies means your preferences (theme, language, sidebar state) will reset each time you visit, and the "remember me" feature will not work.
  • Disabling analytics cookies will not affect your experience, but it will limit our ability to understand usage patterns and improve the platform.
  • Disabling performance cookies will not affect your experience, but may delay our ability to detect and resolve technical issues.

Do Not Track Signals

Preside respects Do Not Track (DNT) headers sent by your browser. When we detect a DNT signal, we automatically disable all analytics and performance cookies for your session. Only strictly necessary and functional cookies (required for the platform to operate and remember your settings) will remain active. You do not need to take any additional action beyond enabling the DNT setting in your browser.

Cookies and AI Features

Preside includes AI-powered features such as meeting summarization, document analysis, governance insights, and intelligent search. These features process data within your active session and do not rely on cookie-based tracking. AI processing uses only the content you explicitly provide or that exists within your organization's workspace. No cookie data is fed into AI models, and AI features do not set any additional cookies beyond those already described in this policy. Your AI interactions are processed in real time and are not stored for model training purposes.

Updates to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes, we will notify you by posting the updated policy on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. For significant changes that affect how we use cookies, we will also display a prominent notice on our platform or send a notification to registered users. We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we use cookies.
